Identity Theft Victims had Wallet or Mail Stolen
Statistics released in a report compiled by an independent research firm and confirmed by the FTC have revealed that 43% of all identity theft victims in 2008 has a wallet or a piece of Mail stolen by the perpetrator before the instance of idenity theft occurred. The study also showed that a staggering 10 million Americans were vistimized last year. Other less popular tactics employed were dumpers diving, shoulder surfing, phishing and skimming. Only11% of thefts occurred as a result of on line phishing or hacking.
FTC officals recommend precautionary measures such as  Locking Mailboxes and keeping wallets securely in a pocket and lying around where they can be picked up. Not surprisingly.Mail and wallets are often stolen by neighbors or even family members in the same household.Securing your mail in a safe place is usually the best defence against this. Commercial Mailboxes and Residential mail boxes that lock are recommended by both law enforcement agencies and the United States Postal Service. Mail can be stolen easily from an unlocked mailbox even when you are home. When you are away on vactaion you might as well open up the front door and let thieves know where you keep your personal paperwork. Someone who specializes in identity theft can read the signs of mail building up and no activity coming in and out of the house. A Locking Mailbox can prevent theft while you are away at work or on vacation.  FTC complaint reports for 2008 also provide a breakdown of the types of fraud that are being committed with these stolen identities. 61% fall into three categories: bank fraud ,credit card fraud and utilites fraud. The latter is mainly due to instances where parents desperate for a clean slate will put utilities in their childrens names. This may seem harmless to some but it is classified as identity theft and is considered a crime by state and federal authorities. Instances of credit card and check fraud were found to be most often committed by stealing the card or checks directly from the victim's Mailbox. A locking Mailbox prevents this from happening. Another method of gathering credit and bank information is called " shoulder surfing" or looking over someone's shoulder while they are doing a transaction at a teller window or ATM machine.Instances of "skimmimg" ,which is using a memory device to save credit card info, were also found to be slightly more frequent than they were in 2007.
Stiff penalties and increased regulations have cut internet identity heft, or phishing, down to an all time low. Theft of personal information from commercial mailboxes or residential mailboxes can only be prevented by installing a locking mailbox and personal information or possessions such as wallets need to be guarded carefully. With credit ratings plummeting during the recent economic crisis there are more and more people looking for new identities they can use to start fresh. Guard yours carefully.

Benefits to secure group mailboxes

I just wanted to give a quite simple explanation of the differences between the older models of group boxes and all the benefits that the new USPS approved mailboxes intale. The older neighbor mailboxes were serviced by the postal carrier from the rear and the tenants retrieved their mail from the front or other side of the box. These were more difficult for the carriers to service because they had to carry the mail behind the boxes often dodging bushes and uneven ground. Not an easy tast, specially in bad weather. Also these units have small doors that prevent magazines from laying flat or accommodating an fair amount of mail. The USPS service has also received quite a bit of complaints from tenants, about broken into boxes. The rear master door has security weakest that has been elimated on the newer Cluster boxes.
The newer Cluster Mailboxes has eliminated many of these issues. As well as combining Parcel delivery and Secure out-going mail. All the type F Cluster boxes have at least one parcel locker incorporated into it as well as a Large out-going compartment. This is were the postal service also installs their master or Arrow Lock. Very nice to keep tenants NetFlix mailings safe, and bill payments. These CBU's are constructed of heavy duty aluminum and stainless steel, with fortified frame work , thicker door and wrapper cabinet. I urge you to compair how your neighborhood mail is at current and how you can improve the ascetics and security mailboxes of all your mail issues with the New CBU's. These units are Type I (8) Tenant , Type II (12) Tenant, Type III (16) tenant and the Type IV (13) Tenant.
If you require a different mix of tenant doors and parcel lockers, we now have a product called the 4C Pedestal mounted mailbox. The benefit of 4C's are they can be from as few as one tenant door to (20) tenant doors. They are made to the same standard's as the CBU's. This is a highly recommend mailbox for business parks and a small group of neighborhood groups. We call all the group boxes that need the Post Office Arrow lock, Commerical Mailboxes.
I hope this was informative for your understanding to take some mystery out of names and different designs and why you will be seeing new and improved mailboxes in your town in the future. Naturally if you have questions on a need or feature we welcome your call toll free @ 877-925-6245

Great Gift Ideas

I wanted to post a great idea from comments given to us from happy customers. Often after a sale when following up on a purchase, folks from all over the county offer their stories. As to why they needed a secure mailbox. An interesting example received from Barbara a ( Mother ) from Northern Calif. is that she had a locking mailbox and wanted her children to also be protected from mail theft. She purchased one for each of her children, she was very relieved to be able to help her kids out with a practical item.
Another nice situation was from a Real Estate Agent he wanted to thank his clients that brought homes from him. He had a attractive Locking Mailbox installed at the new address after escrow cleared to reward his customers and make a statement to the neighborhood. Many times the neighbors came out to talk with the new neighbors to welcome them and the new shiny mailbox was a super convensation starter. The client's told Mark that they thought of him every time they opened their residential mailbox, 6 times a week. He got great referrals because he made a unique effort to do something different and improve the home value he sold. When they decide to move again he can be sure of a call from them to list the home for resale. Allways looking for a smart way to make more sales and make the phone ring. Mark is also one of our happiest customers. I would like to Thank all the folks that have spent the extra time telling us their stories. If you have a story or idea to share please contact us, we would be glad to pass them on to the public.

Secure Your Identity with Locking Post Boxes

All of us have mailboxes of one type or another. Some mailboxes aren’t even locked because we just ‘assume’ that mails aren’t that important. Sometimes, the mails we get are very confidential and we don’t want others to read them. Though most of our mails are just bills, but there can be lots of problems if any of these bills get lost.

This is the reason why mail protection is very important. The best way to protect the mail is to use locking post boxes. They keep our mail secure so that it does not fall in the hands of strangers. Locking mailboxes are used by everyone today because keeping mail safe is an important thing.

There are many people who cannot be trusted. Even if your mail is not important to anyone, someone might just steal it to create problems. And apart from that, there is a new threat that is haunting the minds of people these days- identity theft. If someone can access your personal information on internet, and read your personal mails as well, he or she can steal your identity. These kinds of cases are becoming famous, and thus it is very important for people to keep their mailboxes secure.

When you go to buy locking post boxes, make sure that they are impenetrable. They should not be easily breakable by people. Installation of these mailboxes is pretty simple and it does not take much time. They come with complete instructions, and it generally takes about half an hour to install them. Once you have installed the mailbox, you can be sure that your mail is safe now. They have a lock and key technique, and you would get the key to your mailbox, so that only you are able to open it.

On the outside, the mailbox contains just one slit, so that the mails can be pushed inside, but they cannot be retrieved. To retrieve the mail, anyone would need to open the mailbox using the key. And since the key is owned by you, only you have access to your mails.
